Governor Vacancy
We are looking for two people to join our Governing Body and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has:
- Understanding of HR processes
- Understanding of Early Childhood Development (0-5)
- Experience in Finance
- Experience of Change Management
- Experience of Community / Stakeholder Engagement
- Experience of Client Management
We have recently reviewed the skills of our Governing Board and we would particularly welcome interest from anyone with the above backgrounds, qualifications or experience to help strengthen the Governing Board in any of these areas.
Our school Governing Body is currently made up of staff, parents and community members from across Nottingham. Our Governors bring a range of different backgrounds, skills and experiences to our school. Governors work voluntarily, together for the benefit of Victoria Primary School and are the link between our school and the community it serves.
What can we offer?
Being a Governor can be enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding. It can also offer:
• A chance to develop skills in strategic management
• The opportunity to work with our team of governors and staff in improving our School
• Training to develop an understanding of specific school management issues
• A sense of achievement in making a difference to our school
• The pleasure of helping students reach their potential
What is the Governing Board’s Role?
The Governing Board of Victoria Primary School has three main roles:
- The Strategic Role
- Having a vision for the school
- Developing aims for the school
- Forward planning so that all pupils can achieve the very best they can
- The ‘Critical Friend’ Role
- Monitoring and evaluating the school’s work
- Visiting the school
- Ensuring that all meetings are effective by preparing questions and being well read on information given prior to meetings
The Accountability Role
- Reporting on progress
- Reciprocal accountability between school leaders and governors
- The accountability to parents and the community they serve
School Governors make important collective decisions and are answerable to the parents and community.

The expression of interest should be no more than 500 words, explaining your background and why you are interested in joining us. If you would like an informal chat regarding the role please contact school and a member of the Governing Board will contact you.
