Happy Half Term

Today is the last day of school for children. We are really proud of how well your children have adapted to the covid-related changes in school and have been impressed with how well they have managed their tiredness at the end of what has been quite an intense term.
It is going to be a strange holiday with all of the covid restrictions in Nottingham but we hope you have a good break from school anyway. If you need some different things to entertain the children whilst they are off, we really recommend the links on http://daisi.education/home-learning/ There are lots of "Quick Links" from Bitesize to Baking, Colouring to Craft, Museum visits online and much more!
School reopens on Monday 2nd November.

Catch up on learning

Many children are still catching up from their lost learning in the summer. https://www.invictaacademy.com/ are a national group who are doing a great job of helping children catch up on their English and Maths work. Their lessons are completely free for children who receive free school meals (or £2 a session for those who aren’t). Lessons are 45 minutes on Zoom – click the link to find out more and to get involved.

Safety and Dark Nights

On Saturday night we will be setting the clocks back an hour and summer time ends. Road traffic collisions increase by 20% in the fortnight after the time changes. Sadly, some of those collisions will involve child pedestrians and cyclists. Children under-16 are one of the most vulnerable groups of road users. The latest available government statistics show that 58% of children who die or are seriously injured in a road collision are involved in incidents between 3 and 7pm. From Sunday, much of those will happen in darkness. Remember to talk to your children about road safety and safe cycling.
