Writing
This half term our writing will be based on: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Our writing Sequence for this unit of writing.
Over this half term the children will be focusing on writing for the purpose of; to the make the reader feel magic and wonder. The children will be practicing using different vocabulary and skills to engage the reader. They will be writing a short burst descriptive piece of writing describing the setting. Then, our final piece will be a narrative. Our grammatical skills will include: non-finite clauses, metaphors and subordinating conjunctions.
Reading
In our reading lessons in Autumn, we will be reading The Lion the Witch and Wardrobe by C.S Lewis. Every lesson will consist of an opportunity for the children to read and develop their prosody and comprehension skills. The children will take part in a number of activities to improve their prosody including echo and choral reading, repeated re-reading and performances. The comprehension skills we will be focusing on include visualisation, prediction, inference, summarising and making connections to prior reading and cross curricular knowledge.
