In English, we will be reading the magical and mysterious book ‘Clockwork’ by Phillip Pullman. The story is Gothic themed and is full of strange characters and scary moments which we are positive the children will revel in. They will be using the story to inspire them to write in the same style.
Topic – The British Empire
In History, the children will be learning about the British Empire. They will learn about the origin of the Empire overseas and how this began in the 16th century. They will learn about how the Britain’s maritime dominance accelerated in the 17th century and settlements grew in North America and the West Indies. Pupils will be encouraged to analyse evidence and draw conclusions.
